Governor candidate Cary Kennedy talks to Grand Junction voters

Democratic governor candidate Cary Kennedy spoke to voters at in Grand Junction.

Kennedy talked to dozens of people who attended the event at Main Street Bagel. The former state treasurer was the Democrats' statewide assembly winner.

She talked about a range of topics from education and conserving water to the recently passed pension reform.

"I think it's an important deal to make sure we can meet the obligations in that pension fund long-term," Kennedy said. "Folks who paid into it their entire lives can rely on those benefits for their financial security and retirement."

Kennedy is facing U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, Lt. Governor Donna Lynne and former state Senator Mike Johnston in the Democratic primary. Republicans are choosing between current treasurer Walker Stapleton, former state Representative Victor Mitchell, businessman Doug Robinson, and former Parker mayor Greg Lopez.
